BIO
Born and raised minutes away from the club, Carl is proud to be a North Vancouver local. Growing up on the North Shore, Carl competed for the rep teams in hockey with NVMHA from tyke up to juvenile (5-18). While attending Saint Thomas Aquinas Secondary, he was an exemplary leader on the basketball and golf teams, as well as playing on the varsity soccer team. Upon graduation from STA, Carl received the prestigious ‘Father Kilty Overall Athletic Achievement Award' awarded to the graduating student who best exhibits superior achievement and overall excellence in sports.
Carl moved on from High school to attend the University of Victoria and after 3 years there he transferred to University of British Columbia to attain his Bachelors in Human Kinetics (Health Science and Kinesiology).
To further his own knowledge and abilities, Carl has attained his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist accreditation through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CSCS). Recreationally, Carl is involved in all genres of sports including
tennis, golf, skiing, indoor soccer, hockey (ice and floor), basketball, flag football and volleyball.
Over the years, Carl has gained significant volunteer and work experience with at risk and general populations including working with patients undergoing cardiac rehabilitation at the Healthy Heart Program at Lions Gate Hospital. Furthermore, Carl is very passionate about coaching sports as he has years of coaching basketball at the junior basketball (STA) and elementary level. He looks forward to working with the young athletes of the NSWC both on and off their respective playing surfaces.
